BOOK BLURB

A poet lost his mother to cancer on 18th February, 2016 which almost drowned him in the ocean of unfathomable despair and agony. However, thanks to his dear wife and family members, with their support and blessings, he could pull himself out of the whirlpool of despair and agony into which he was continuously getting sucked into day after day. The poet then decided to share with the world the waves of emotions, feelings and the thoughts that were tossing his heart and mind like a ship trapped in a tempest. He chose poetry as his media of expression and quite inevitably, dedicated his debut anthology to his late Mother and the Motherhood in general. He brought together all his poems penned earlier, added some new ones and finally, he was ready with his final collection of poems for publishing. The book is titled ‘Bouquet-of emotions, feelings and thoughts’. The book, as the title suggest, is based on a plethora of themes, each of them capable of taking the readers into a different world altogether.

The book is available online at http://www.amazon.in/dp/9385783238

“Hello Subhrajyoti, it is an honor to meet you, interview you and I want to thank you for speaking to me. Tell your readers what are some of your favorite genres to read and to write?”

“Nice to meet you Debbie and thank you for this interview.  I have a natural inclination to read books based on Indian mythology, historical events and stories on suspense. But what I write is mostly poems on themes, especially on human emotions, Mother Earth, Nature, etc.”

“Wow, that is wonderful, Subhrajyoti. What is your inspiration with your writing?”

“Debbie, almost everybody around me, but particularly my late mother, my wife, my father and not the least, my sweet sister.”

“Ahhh, that is so wonderful. I am the same way, Subhrajyoti. Are you a published Author and if not do you plan on being published?”

“Yes Debbie, by God’s grace and by Mom’s blessings, I am now a published Author with ‘Bouquet of emotions, feelings and thoughts’ being my debut book.”

“Subhrajyoti, I love that book. What has been your greatest criticism?”

“Debbie, my greatest criticism was from my wife, who I must confess, was bit harsh but honest. It was that particular criticism that brought about a great deal of improvement in my poetry style and has made it more mature.”

“Wow  Subhrajyoti, what a great wife you have to be so honest. That is wonderful. What has been your greatest compliment?”

“Debbie, it was from one of my dear readers, who after going through my book, was so overwhelmed with emotion that he insisted for my autograph on his copy of the book. I really felt quite honored and humbled as well while signing on the book. That was my maiden autograph in my life.”

“Subhrajyoti, what a wonderful thing to happen. That always means a lot. When you sit down to write, do you do it the old-fashioned way with pen and paper or do you use a computer?

“Debbie, frankly speaking, I am more comfortable when I am before my computer but that doesn’t mean writing with pen and paper is old-fashioned. It is just a matter of what one is comfortable in.”

“Subhrajyoti, I agree with you. What do you do when you are not writing?”

“Debbie,  a hell lot of things such as photography, traveling, movies and not the least spending quality time with my family.”

“Subhrajyoti, compared to when you first started writing, have you noticed any big changes in your writing style or how you write compared from then to now?”

“Debbie yes, of course. There has been substantial improvement in my writing style. However, the basic choice of themes has remained quite the same.”

“Subhrajyoti, what do you look for in a book when you sit down to read for fun?”

“Debbie, that’s easy. Basic plot of the story is what I instinctively look for. That’s why I tend to have a quick look into the back cover of the book before I start reading it.”

“Subhrajyoti, what has been your favorite part about being an author?”

“Debbie, authors, in my opinion, are great dreamers and very good at imagining something which the normal eyes fail to figure out. They are creative beings and I must say, it is one of the toughest & riskiest jobs in the world.”

” Subhrajyoti wow, I agree with you. When you walk into a bookstore, where do you head to first? Why?

“Debbie, I head straight for the  shelf  of historical accounts and fictions based on Indian mythology.”

“Subhrajyoti, did you get to quit your day job and become a writer and/or author or do you still have a day job and writing is something you do for fun? If you still have a day job, what is it?

“Debbie, I am still having my day job and still able to manage time for my writing. I am currently employed in an Indian Aerospace Company which manufactures helicopters for military and civil usage.”

“Wow Subhrajyoti, that is impressive. What  has been the strangest thing a reader has asked you?”

“Debbie, till now the strangest question asked by one of my readers was, as I quote, “How many of these poems have you thought of while at loo?” This literally caught me off guard.”

“Oh, my goodness. That is funny, Subhrajyoti. Tell us, when you are not  writing and reading, what is your most favorite thing to do?”

“Debbie, I love photography, especially landscapes undoubtedly!”

“Subhrajyoti, we all have our little things when it comes to reading. Is there anything that bugs you when you read a novel? What is it?”

“Yes, Debbie. I do have it. If I find the plot quite gripping and compelling, I tend to turn back to the last pages to know the climax and I always hope for a happy ending.”

“Subhrajyoti, what do you listen to when you write? Do you find one type of music over another that inspires you to write? Why?”

“Debbie, I don’t listen to anything other than my mind reading the story aloud to me.”

“Subhrajyoti, what genre are you looking forward to exploring during your writing career? Why?”

“Debbie, without any doubt, I wish to explore the style of writing stories based on historical accounts, folklores and mythologies.”

“Subhrajyoti, what are you currently reading?”

“Debbie, I am reading a well-researched book on 1971 Indo-China War.”

“Wow Subhrajyoti, that is a deep reader. Who are your favorite authors?”

“Debbie, my favorites are John Grisham and Amish Tripathy.”

“Subhrajyoti, what 7 words would you use to describe yourself?”

“Debbie, seven words are:  Poet, Reader, Traveller, Foodie, Photographer, Researcher and not the least, Emotional.”

“Wow Subhrajyoti, I want to thank you for the wonderful interview… Is there anything else that you would like to share or say to those who will read this interview?”

“Yes, Debbie. I would like to say nothing else for my book will say the rest what my words fail to speak…”

Some of Subhrajyoti Poems From The His Book Bouquet

_______________________________________

Making of Goddess

The day of celebration,
The day of pomp & show,
Air full of festivity,
On display is man’s creativity.

Molded from soft brown clay,
Painted with colours as bright & vivid,
Man’s fingers twisted & grooved,
Imagining her who is now so moved.

Sweat perched on his eyebrows,
Lines of worry appeared on forehead,
the firm & steady hands shook,
and the humming lips gave way to a serious look.

“Something is wrong, Something is not right”,
Man’s peaceful mind is now in turmoil,
She is unhappy & in severe rage,
this is what man fears & penances as a sage.

But She is so forgiving & compassionate,
like a true Mother loving Her child,
And blessing Him with admiration
So, she comes to Life in his beautiful creation.

In fight of good versus evil,
Good triumphs while evil loses,
for She fights from Truth side,
But Alas! Man always chooses the Wrong side!

 A child’s promise

The Sun wakes me up,
from the bed after a long dark night,
to a new day of hope and the beaming light.

Night has been so peaceful,
tucked under thousands of twinkling stars,
that comforts me from the day full of scary scars.

Sleep fairy stays miles away,
far beyond the reach of my open arms,
so I count the sheep from the neighbour’s farms.

Heard from buddies in my school,
that Mom sings lullaby to their beds,
That weaves dreams from magical threads.

It takes them to far off worlds,
to the land of blue skies and bright flowers,
milky white snow and mystical powers.

What I shall do at such far off places?
when I miss her holding me to her warm bosom,
and days are no longer happy and awesome.

Sweet and beautiful to my tiny ears,
were Her soft whispers and that humming song
Come back Mom, for I no longer do anything wrong.

I am a grown up kid now,
I take care of Dad and the little puppy too,
You will be proud of me Mom and very happy too.

He also cries often with a picture in his hand,
where you are in red and he in a dark suit,
I wonder, why I am not there in my cute yellow boots??

I promise you every night before I go to bed,
in my stripped pajamas and white shining teeth,
I will be always yours good boy,
as you see me from my pillows underneath.

Missing you Mom…Always will…

Unwanted Girl

Curly hair, chubby cheeks,
big round eyes, shining bright,
O my baby, let me hold you tight.

Soft and tender is her skin,
cute and pretty like a pink fairy,
So sweet you are like a red cherry.

Beautiful smiles on tiny lips,
two small dimples on both the cheeks,
So lovely you are, when they form tiny peaks.

Apple of my eyes, close to my heart.
Can’t stop thinking of you anytime,
So dear you are, beating in my heart all the time.

Tiny fingers and tight palms,
waiving always, calling me mom,
O my dear, let me kiss you some.

Held you close, fed you nine months,
Kept you tied to my body,
So connected I was, loved you more than anybody.

You would have been like this and like that,
Had I fought for you, with tooth and nail,
O my cutie, all I knew you were an unwanted tale.

Feeling your soul now everywhere,
Had I brought you to this beautiful world,
O my little girl, had I been a bit more bold.

Now wailing loud and weeping deep inside,
Won’t you forgive me my dear child?
Though I know our sin is no mild.

O listen, why don’t you understand,
If you allow her take birth,
She shall bring new lives to this earth.

So Love Her, Save Her, Please don’t abandon Her!
