Princess Madeline’s parents were killed in a boating accident by her uncle in order to gain control of their kingdom called Prim. Madeline was only eight years old at the time of their disappearance and her only companion was her loyal maid, Rose. As soon as Madeline turned eighteen, she and Rose decided they would go on a quest to find her perfect prince. They packed their belongings and put their stuffed saddlebags on their trusty horses to travel the country in search of her prince. After several weeks of disappointing results, they had just about given up when they came to the top of a hill and as they looked down, there was the most beautiful castle in the midst of a lake. Rose excitedly pointed out that Madeline’s prince could live there. As they wondered how to get to the castle a bridge magically appeared. As they crossed the bridge, the gates opened into a lush tropical courtyard and grooms appeared to take their horses. They were ushered into the castle and taken to splendid rooms where their every wish came true.
Prince Charles owned the castle and often hid from view. As a young child, he had been horribly disfigured in a barn fire while rescuing horses trapped there. Both of his parents had been killed in the fire and he had been raised by his nanny who was rumored to be a white witch. Charles insisted that his guests wear masquerade costumes to dinner each night so he could meet them without showing his disfigurement. Over the course of the next few weeks, he and Madeline found they had a great deal in common. When Charles discovered they loved each other, Charles revealed his face and to his disbelief, Madeline kissed him and something quite magical happened. Madeline had found her perfect prince.
